Community Playground Support Fund

Your donation

For adventure playgrounds to remain free, safe and uniquely inspiring spaces where children and young people can express their creativity, they need your help! By making a one-off donation or pledging a monthly gift, you will help us get playgrounds back to their best. Our design team works closely with playworkers to maximise their budget for essential maintenance, repairs and new play structures, and to incorporate children’s ideas. Our aim is for these amazing spaces to carry on serving communities long into the future! With your help, we can do just that.

Why is your donation important?

Playgrounds often have little or no budget to maintain and develop their sites. They deteriorate over time and, in some cases, this could lead to temporary or long term closures! Each adventure playground serves hundreds, sometimes thousands of children and young people in their local community. They offer free, safe places for children to play and just be themselves in a world full of stress and pressure.

Play is crucial to children's development and wellbeing. Fears are overcome, imaginations are let loose, mistakes are made and learned from, theories are tried and tested, connections with others are made, curiosity is ignited, and children explore a sense of self and the world!

Adventure playgrounds, with their hand-built play structures, are the ideal environment for play to take place. To safeguard these essential spaces, London Play Design has launched this donation platform to help playgrounds raise crucial funds.

How we use your money

Your money will be used to provide essential materials and tools for playworkers to maintain their sites. Where bigger repairs are needed, London Play Design will assist playgrounds by supervising corporate volunteer teams. In some complex cases, our experienced engineers will carry out work on an ‘at cost’ basis. All our work is guaranteed, helping to increase sustainability and keep down running costs.

Before play areas are built or modified, young people need to be consulted about their space. Apart from construction expertise, we also provide support for adventure playgrounds to consult with their young people. To find out more about our consultation process, click here.

 Homerton Grove Donation Project

The young people will use the donation to create the new space (picture 1). Volunteers, young people and London Play design carpenters will build the project.

The young people are preparing Ideas and suggestions to recreate a new space. We are bringing together the thoughts of all young people involved and create an actual project; we know that our dream and budget are often incompatible. So London Play Design comes in to make the children's design realistic with our resources.

If you want to be involved with this project as a volunteer or become our regular volunteer to make London more Playful, send an email to luis@londonplaydesign.org.uk
